  • The 9th Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference will be staged in Victoria.
  • It is the only Conference in Australia that celebrates Aboriginal Tourism as a national event
  • Supported by WAITOC, Tourism WA and the State Government of Victoria

Tourism Industry delegates from Australia and overseas will gather in Lorne, Victoria in November this year for the 9th AITC - Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference.

Hosted by WAITOC, Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council, AITC 2018 features 4 days of trade and media education activities, workshops and industry insights with a focus on current and future travel trends. This year’s theme is ‘Entrepreneurship - from little things big things grow’.  WAITOC is excited, once again, to have industry experts and leaders share their knowledge in relation to trends, technology and practical ‘hands-on’ advice.

The conference presents a platform for Aboriginal tourism businesses to meet, learn from industry peers and forge new partnerships with wholesale and retail operators, including airlines, accommodation and media as well showcasing their product through a globally recognised tourism forum.

Aboriginal tourism is instrumental in helping to protect and preserve traditional culture. It also encourages communities to become economically viable by providing income and jobs.

Since the inaugural AITC event in 2004, the aim has been to stage the conference in a variety of regions to showcase the diversity of Aboriginal culture around Australia and celebrate the achievements made in the tourism industry. Previous venues have been Perth, Alice Springs, Broome, Townsville, Fremantle and Bunbury – this year, WAITOC looks forward to working with our partners in Victoria.

The AITC 2018, coordinated by ‘Think Business Events’, will be staged at the Mantra Hotel in Lorne, Victoria from 30th October – 2nd November. Early Bird Registrations are now open and incorporate a substantial  $100 discount.
